Bill Brantley led the Jacksonville State Gamecocks to four straight Alabama Collegiate Conference championships and the school’s first NAIA post-season berth in history. Brantley, a 6-foot-5 forward, averaged 18.1, 19.1, and 16.1 points per game. In addition to being an outstanding scorer and defensive player, Brantley was extremely accurate from the field. He shot over 70 percent from the field to lead the nation. Brantley, who earned Most Valuable Player honors in Alabama twice, made all conference and NAIA All-District for three years. The Birmingham native finished his career with 1,380 points to set the school's scoring record at the time. More than 50 years later, he remains seventh on the all-time scoring list as one of 24 players on Jax State's 1,000-Point Club.

Following his time at Jax State, Brantley went on to have an Immensely impressive business career. He spent nearly three decades with Bank of America, working his way to Senior VP. In 2004, he moved into the auto industry with the Ed Voyles Auto Group where he serves as President and COO. Voyles operates seven dealerships between Georgia and Alabama featuring Acura, Kia, Hyundai, Genesis, Kia, Crysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM and Honda. The Bill Brantley Hospitality Room at Pete Mathews Coliseum is named in his honor.
