Susan Puckett, JacksonvilleState’s first All-America gymnast, led the Lady Gamecocks to their first national championship finals. An All-America in both 1980 and 1981, Susan and her teammates posted a 10th place finish in their first national competition. The excellent record compelled by Puckett and her teammates in the AIAW those first two years was the start of a great tradition that allowed JSU to build national championship teams in 1984 and 1985. For her efforts, Puckett was named a member of the Top 100 Centennial Team at JacksonvilleStateUniversity.
