Terry Harris was a versatile football player who excelled on both offense and defense, but defense was where he shined the brightest. He was a three-year starter for the Gamecocks and was named All-American in 1967 as a senior after intercepting seven passes for 61 yards. He also had 26 receptions for 448 yards and a pair of touchdowns and was elected captain. As a junior in 1966, he helped the Gamecocks post an 8-2 record, including a 41-30 win over Arkansas A&M in the Space City Classic, where he was named the game’s Most Valuable Player. He finished the season with four interceptions for 135 yards on defense and also had seven receptions for 154 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
