JSU Rifle Tops Tennessee Tech

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Jacksonville State Rifle team shot a team aggregate score of 4,552 to earn a road win over Tennessee Tech, which scored 4,477 points, in a shoulder-to-shoulder match on Saturday.
JSU swept the smallbore and the air rifle events to post the win. The Gamecocks narrowly won the smallbore with 2,239 points just 20 points ahead of Tech. JSU had a little more cushion in the air rifle, totaling 2,313 to the Golden Eagles 2,258.
Brain Carstensen targeted 580 points as the top shooter in the smallbore. Andrea Dardas had 563 points followed by Matt MacKenzie with 560 points and Christie Gentemann with 536 points.
Patrick Stidham led TTU with 565 points while Curtis Gagne had 556 points. Johnathan Zimmerer and James Culver had 550 and 548 points, respectively.
Dardas was the top Gamecock in the air rifle with 588 points. Carstensen was seven points behind with a 581 and MacKenzie was right behind with a 580. Gentemann rounded out JSU's designated team members with 564 points. Robbie Jordan competed as an individual, scoring 557 points.
Stidham and Krystle Harris shot the top air rifle scores for TTU with 572 and 566 points. Austin Litherland was two points behind Harris with 564 and James Culver totaled 556 points.

Jacksonville State returns to the Gamecock Rifle Range to host Nevada on Saturday at 8 a.m. and Memphis on Sunday at 8 a.m.
