
Murray State Upends JSU Rifle

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State versus Murray State Rifle match was cut short after a JSU shooter was forced to withdraw with the Racers holding a 4600-4177 lead.
Murray State captured the smallbore event to open the day, targeting 2281 points to JSU's 2222 points. Kasey Meyer was the top smallbore shooter with a 583, two points ahead of JSU's Brian Carstensen with 581.
Christina Bornefeld followed Carstensen with a 550 followed by Matt MacKenzie's 548 and Kayla Allen's 543 in the smallbore.
The Racers totaled 2319 points to JSU's 1955 points in air rifle. Carstensen finished with the top air rifle score with 589 points followed by MSU's Daniel Sojka with 584 points.
MacKenzie tallied 572 points followed by Monica Fyfe with 563 points in the air rifle. Allen had 231 points through before withdrawing during her third round.
Jacksonville State travels to Tennessee Tech on Saturday in Cookeville, Tenn.
