Miami (Ohio) Rallies to Claim 7-6 Win Over Jax State

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Jordan Petraitis went 3-for-5 and drove in the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead Miami (Ohio) to a 7-6 win over Jacksonville State at the Russ Matt Invitational on Friday.
Jordan Jankowski allowed just one hit in the final 1 1/3 innings on the mound to earn the win for Miami. JSU's Jordan Beistline (0-1) gave up a pair of hits in the ninth inning to suffer his first loss of the season.
With the game tied at 6-6, Jon Edginton reached on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the ninth inning and then stole second. Petraitis then followed by hitting a 2-2 pitch up the middle to score Edginton and give the Redhawks the win.
Jacksonville State (7-6) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning after Todd Cunningham led off with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Steven Leach followed with a walk before Jake Welch singled to left center to score Cunningham and Leach came in to score on a sacrifice fly by Heath Wall.
The Redhawks (6-5) cut the lead in half after Eaton hit a solo home run to left field to make the score 2-1, but the Gamecocks got the run back in the top of the second inning.
Kyle Bluestein reached on a four pitch walk and came around to score when Cunningham doubled down the left field line to give the Gamecocks a 3-1 lead.
Miami then took a 4-3 lead in the fourth inning on RBI singles by Chris Nadeau, Brad Gschwind and Ben Eubank, but Jax State battled back to retake the lead in the fifth inning.
Sam Eberle had a RBI single and Cunningham was hit by a pitch with bases loaded to give the Gamecocks a 5-4 lead.
Eberle then led off the seventh inning with a solo home run to push the lead to 6-4, before Miami tied the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Cunningham led the Gamecocks by going 3-for-4, while Heath Wall, Blake Seguin and Eberle each added a pair of hits. Seguin also extended his hitting streak to a team-best 11 games after he singled in the fourth inning.
