Gamecock Rifle Defeats UT Martin To Open 2010 Schedule

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State rifle team defeated Tennessee Martin on Monday to get the 2010 portion of its schedule off to a good start.
JSU posted a team aggregate score of 4598, scoring 2338 in the air rifle and 2260 in the smallbore. UT Martin totaled 4501 points, 2259 in the air rifle and 2242 in the smallbore.
Andrea Dardas was the top overall shooter in the air rifle with a 589 followed by Brian Carstensen with a 586. Monica Fyfe was one point behind Carstensen with a 585 and Kayla Allen targeted a 578.
Carstensen tallied a 577 as the top overall smallbore shooter followed by Dardas with a 575. Fyfe totaled 558 points and Matt Mackenzie registered a 550 to round out the JSU shooters. Allen scored a 561, shooting as an individual.
The Gamecocks return to competition at the Tennessee Tech Invitational in Cookeville, Tenn. on Saturday.
