
No. 7 Gamecock Rifle Edges No. 4 TCU & No. 8 Murray State

MURRAY,Ky. – The Jacksonville State rifle team recorded its third consecutive first-place finish in the first three outings of the year after downing TCU and host-Murray State this past weekend on the MSU campus.
The No. 7 Gamecocks were one point better than the No. 4 Horned Frogs as they had an aggregate score of 4664. TCU finished with a 4663, while No. 8 MSU accumulated a 4662. JSU turned in a 2348 in air rifle, while carding a 2316 in smallbore.
Leading the way for Jax State in air rifle was sophomore Brandon Muske. The Brenham, Texas-native carded a 591 which put him in a three-way tie for medalist honors with TCU's Sally Li and MSU's Ivan Roe. Senior Cole Tucker added a 588, while junior Samantha Bullard shot a 586. Brent Books and Dan McCall rounded out the air rifle mark with scores of 583 and 574 respectively.
In the smallbore section, Tucker was JSU's top-finisher with a 581. Muske finished with an aggregate mark of 1171 after a score of 580. McCall counted a score of 578, while Bullard posted a 577. Books capped off the Gamecocks' final tally with a 570.
JSU returns to competition as it will trek to Fort Worth, Texas to face TCU in its home range on Friday, Oct. 31.Jax State will also shoot against Nevada next weekend.
