
Jettenberg, Burrow Lead Gamecock Rifle in Season Opener

STATESBORO, Ga. – The 14th ranked Jacksonville State rifle team started the 2022-23 season with a solid outing against Georgia Southern and Nebraska.
The Gamecocks combined for a 4613 on Sunday in Statesboro, Georgia after turning in a 2340 in air rifle and a 2273 in smallbore. The Cornhuskers tabulated a 4677, while the Eagles posted a 4628.
Junior Kim Jettenberg paced the Gamecocks with a final aggregate of 1160. She placed fifth in the overall individual standings after a 583 in air rifle and a 577 in smallbore. Newcomer Sam Burrow registered a top-10 finish in his Jax State debut. The transfer from North Carolina State fired a total of 1153 in his first outing in red and white. Burrow carded the best air rifle mark for JSU with a 586 and also counted a 577 in smallbore.
Including Burrow's best mark on the squad in air rifle, JSU had four of the top-10 scores in the discipline. Freshman Annie Iannotti matched Burrow with a 586, followed by senior Kaila Jones' score of 585. Sophomore Clark McWhorter finished with a 585 in air rifle.
JSU's smallbore total was bolstered by sophomore Lars Lilleng's score of 568 after he carded a 578 in air rifle and senior Michael Dietz, who had a 561 in smallbore.
JSU will travel to Murray, Kentucky next Saturday to face the Racers of Murray State.
