
Rifle Downs The Citadel On Sunday

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The nationally-ranked Jacksonville State rifle team wrapped up the weekend in the Palmetto State with another solid outing against The Citadel.
The Gamecocks finished the weekend shooting a 4670 after combining a 2365 in air rifle and a 2305 in smallbore on Sunday. Jax State was 55 points better than the Bulldogs, who posted a 4615 inside their home range. Jax State opened the weekend in Charleston on Friday with a season-best 4683.
Jax State was led by junior Sam Burrow on Sunday after firing a match-best 1180. Burrow recorded the top air rifle score of 596, which was four marks off a perfect score of 600. The Williamson, Georgia native added a 584 in smallbore. Freshman Frans Rasmusson, who was the medalist in Friday's match with an 1178, completed the weekend with an 1172 and finished third overall on Sunday. He registered a 593 in air rifle and tallied a 579 in smallbore.
Senior Lars Lilleng posted a top-five finish with an aggregate score of 1157 after carding a 587 in air rifle and a 570 in smallbore. Senior Kim Jettenberg and sophomore Clark McWhorter placed sixth and seventh overall respectively. Jettenberg's day was highlighted by a 586 in air rifle, while McWhorter had a 580 in air rifle and a 572 in smallbore.
Sophomore Annie Iannotti bolstered Jax State's air rifle mark with a 589.
The Gamecocks will return to action on Sunday at North Georgia before returning home for a pair of outings at the Gamecock Rifle Range inside Rowe Hall to conclude the fall semester.
