
Jax State Fires Season High At Gamecock Invite

JACKSONVILLE – The No. 17 Jacksonville State rifle team will head into the semester break of the 2024-25 season carrying the best aggregate score of the season in the annual Gamecock Invitational.
Jax State combined to fire a 2366 in air rifle and a 2326 in smallbore to post a 4692 in the two-day event. The Gamecocks' final mark is the best since the 4683 that the club turned in at the 2023 Gamecock Invitational. Jax State finished second among the five teams after former Ohio Valley Conference rival Murray State tabulated a 4722. UT Martin (4660) claimed third place, followed by North Georgia (4655) and UAB (4564).
After recording the best smallbore score of 589 in the event, sophomore Frans Rasmusson led Jax State in the overall individual standings with an 1182. He added a 593 in air rifle to wrap up the event. Freshman Jenny Ek claimed a top-10 finish on the individual leaderboard after firing a 594 in air rifle and scoring a 577 in smallbore.
Senior Kim Jettenberg and senior Sam Burrow bolstered Jax State's air rifle score with a 591 and a 590 respectively. Sophomore Debi Weiser and freshman Alex Watts contributed to the air rifle tally as Weiser carded a 589, while Watts added a 587.
Senior Clark McWhorter and junior Annie Iannotti followed behind Rasmusson in the smallbore portion of the outing. McWhorter placed eighth in smallbore with a 581. Iannotti registered a 579 to finish 11th in smallbore.
The Gamecocks will be idle until January when they return to the competition range at the Withrow Invitational in Murray, Kentucky on Jan.
