Framingham (Mass.) State, 1980 • Sixth season

Don Moye, a 21-year coaching veteran, begins his sixth year as an assistant basketball coach on Coach Mike LaPlante's staff and has helped lead Jacksonville State to four post-season appearances since his arrival.

Before joining the Gamecocks, Moye served as an administrative assistant for one season at Auburn University (2000-2001) after a year in the same position at Hartford in Connecticut (1999-2000).

As LaPlante was departing Auburn as an assistant for the Jacksonville State head coaching job, he was instrumental in helping Moye secure a position on coach Cliff Ellis' Tigers staff. Moye’s and LaPlante’s relationship goes back to their hometown of Holyoke, Mass., where LaPlante played under Moye in summer basketball programs.

From 1997-99, Moye served as the head coach of the Springfield Slamm in the United Basketball Alliance. Moye directed Springfield to a championship in the league's inaugural season in 1997-98. Prior to his professional experience, Coach Moye served as the head coach at North Hampton High School in his hometown of Holyoke before moving on to the head coach job at Holyoke Junior College for one season (1990-91).

The Massachusetts native graduated from Framingham State College in 1980 with a B.S. degree in Sociology and was a four-year starter for the Rams at point guard from 1976-80. Moye led Framingham State to the NCAA Division II MACSAC Conference Championship as a junior and senior. A Hall of Fame Inductee at Framingham State College, Moye also earned New England and all-conference honors during his senior season.

After graduating from college, Moye accepted a position with the Massachusetts State Police and served 20 years protecting the people of his home state, while continuing his coaching career. Moye is married to the former Michelle Jackson from Holyoke, Mass., and the Moye's have four children: Brooke (24); Brandon (16); Jordan (13) and Olivia (6).
