Brad McAbee begins his fifth season coaching the offensive line for head coach Jack Crowe.
The Gamecock offensive unit led the Ohio Valley Conference in rushing in 2003 and was ranked No. 12 in the nation with a 242.08 yard average. His offensive line also helped lead the Southland in rushing in 2001 and was ranked in the top 15 in the country and was in the top 10 in total offense.
Prior to joining the Gamecocks, McAbee spent four seasons as offensive line coach at Pelham High School where he coached three All-State offensive lineman. Two of his former players were selected to play in the Alabama/Mississippi All-Star game before joining Jack Crowe's staff in 2000.
Prior to that, McAbee spent two years at UMS-Wright (Mobile) as the offensive and defensive line coach and as a graduate assistant at Wofford in 1993-94.
McAbee was a four-year letterman at Wofford and earned All-American honors as team captain his senior season. He helped lead the team to back-to-back appearances in the NCAA playoffs in 1990 and 1991 and was named the teams MVP Offensive Lineman. He earned a B.A. in Mathematics in 1993.
As class valedictorian at Ware Shoals High School, he was an All-State, All-Conference and Conference Player-of-the-Year his senior season. He led the team to three conference titles (1985, 1987 and 1988) and was a member of the bigger, faster, stronger All-American squad.
