Ronnie Letson

Offensive Coordinator/Quarterb

Ronnie Letson begins his fourth season coordinating the Gamecocks offense and will also coach quarterbacks for JSU head coach Jack Crowe for the 2007 season.

In 2006, the Gamecocks led the Ohio Valley Conference in scoring offense, averaging 25.9 points per game.

The year before in 2005, the JSU rushing offense led the Conference for the third straight season as junior Clay Green earned All-America honors along with offensive center Rod Olds, who signed a NFL contract with the Tennessee Titans.

With Letson leading the JSU offense in 2004, the Gamecocks set school records for rushing yards per game and total offense. JSU also led the Ohio Valley Conference in rushing offense (260.27) and finished sixth in all of NCAA I-AA, while leading the league in total offense (444.45), scoring offense (37.45) and passing efficiency (142.56).

Letson, who coached the Gamecock receiving crops for two seasons from 2000-01, spent the 2002 football season as the receivers coach at Presbyterian College, where the Blue Hose finished with an 8-3 record. He was an offensive administrative graduate assistant at Ole Miss in 2003 as the Rebels finished with a 10-3 record, a share of the Southeastern Conference Western Division Title and Cotton Bowl Champions.

Letson was moved to the defensive side the ball as a graduate assistant in the Spring of 2004 before returning to the Gamecock coaching ranks in May of 2004.

The 1999 graduate of Ole Miss was a three-year letterman after helping the Rebels to three straight bowl victories. Ole Miss claimed the Ford Motor City Bowl against Marshall and two wins in the Independence Bowl, including a last second win over Oklahoma.

Letson was also a member of the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll and the University of Mississippi Athletic Academic Honor Roll.
