2002 SPRING UPDATE: Enters the fall as the back-up quarterback to Reggie Stancil.had a very good spring as he continues to learn the system.showed great come-back ability after leading his team to two come-from-behind wins in spring scrimmages. JSU CAREER: As a freshman, Mayo saw action in nine games during the 2001 season...he completed 16-of-34 passes for 322 yards and four touchdowns...completed 3-of-4 passes for 39 yards in the season-opener against Cumberland...had four completions in eight attempts for 86 yards two touchdowns and an interception in the Gamecocks' win at Samford...saw considerable playing time versus #15 Northwestern State, where he completed 6-of-17 passes for 110 yards, a touchdown and an interception...recorded his career-longest pass completion of the season (55 yards) in that game...HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Etowah High School under coach Raymond Farmer...led the Blue Devils to the 1999 Class 5A State Championship, throwing for 1,900 yards and 26 touchdowns...completed 150 passes out of 280 attempted for over 4,000 yards and 45 touchdowns during his career...named the Blue Devils' offensive team MVP his junior season...named Birmingham News Player-of-the-Week as a senior...also lettered in baseball, where he slugged 27 homeruns and was a First Team All Region selection...was also class president...PERSONAL: Full name is Brian Anthony Mayo...son of Willie and Theresa Mayo...has two sisters...born on May 25, 1981...lists Brett Favre as his football hero... major is Pre-Business.
