Toledo, Oh.-- Jacksonville State dropped two matches Saturday, in the Second Annual Clarion Hotel Westgate Rocket Volleyball Classic.
In the first match of the day, JSU won the first game, but miscued its' hitting during the following three games, hitting less than .080 percent. Youngstown State took the match 3-1 (24-30, 30-23, 30-23, 30-16).
Junior Jennifer Brenneman had a double-double against the Penguins (2-3), with 11 kills and 16 digs. Freshman Kisha West had 20 digs and senior Alison Wright added 12 digs.
Brenneman's performance throughout the weekend, earned her a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
In the second match of the day and the last of the tournament, JSU lost to host Toledo, 3-0 (30-18, 30-24, 30-16).
"We just aren't ready to play a team like that," said head coach Rick Nold, commenting on the Toledo loss. "We have asked them to do just a couple of things and they are doing exactly what we ask them to do."
Senior Sarah Taylor had ten kills for JSU and West had 12 digs. Wright added another 11 digs on defense.
For Toledo (6-0), Becky Radomski had 14 kills.
The Gamecocks (3-4) will continue action next weekend at the Illini Classic hosted by Illinois.
