BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - Two days after rushing for a school-record 298 yards, Jacksonville State’s Kory Chapman has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player-of-the-Week.
Chapman, a native of Batesville, Miss., became just the third JSU player to top 200-yards in a game and broke Boyce Callahan’s 33-year rushing record of 275 yards set in 1970 vs UNA.
Chapman also had two kick returns for 41 yards to give him 339 all-purpose yards in JSU’s 34-24 OVC win over UT-Martin on Saturday. His 298 yards was the second best effort in all of I-AA this season and he finished the game with 10.3 yards per carry and had seven plays of more than 20 yards.
The Gamecocks travel to face league-leading Tennessee State on Saturday in Nashville. Kick-off is set for 6 p.m. at the Coliseum.
