JACKSONVILLE--After ten years as the women's basketball coach at Jacksonville State University,
Dana Austin is resigning from her position effective July 30th. Acting Athletic Director
Debby Bishop has announced that JSU assistant coach
Dave Dagostino will step in as the acting head coach for the upcoming season.
Austin will be returning to her high school alma mater of Spring Garden to teach physical education and also to help her husband Ricky coach basketball. The job change will allow her to spend more time with her family.
"This is a great opportunity that has been given to me here at Jacksonville State University and now I am very fortunate to have another wonderful opportunity at Spring Garden," said Austin. "I will forever be thankful for the support that Dr. (Bill) Meehan, the entire athletic staff and fans have given me. I will never forget the wonderful people that I have worked with and the memories that I have made over the years."
Dagostin, a native of New York, has been an assistant coach at JSU for three years.
"Dave is very capable of continuing the traditions of the women's basketball program," said Bishop. "I know he will do a great job."
