AUBURN, Ala.-- Jacksonville State's Josphat Waweru won the Auburn Invite, Monday, October 11th at the Indian Pines Golf Course.

Waweru finished the race in first, 16 seconds ahead of Alabama's Alex Korir and helped lead JSU to seventh place finish at the invite.

"I was very happy about the way our guys ran. I was happy with Josphat's victory," said JSU head coach Heath Dudley. "He set a new school record along with several that set personal bests. We still need someone to step up with Ryan (McKay) gone for the season."

Gamecock sophomores Wade Martin and Yibeltal Arega finished 22nd and 23rd respectively. Matt Morgan finished in 91st, Jason Butler in 96th, Stephen Calvert in 103rd and Robert Stevenson in 124th.

The JSU women finished in 16th at the meet and were led by Megan Ziarek in 54th place with a time of 20:08.

"The ladies ran well today. I was impressed with the aggressiveness that Megan, Latosha, and Shelbee ran with," Dudley said. "This meet and the way than ran will only help them get better and better."

Jax State's Emily Hulse was in 94th, Shelbee Roberts in 137th, Latosha Taliaferro in 141st, Mackenzie Hays in 142nd, and Stephanie Jones in 146th.
