JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State football team’s game at Tennessee Tech has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 28, at 1 p.m. CT, two days later than the originally scheduled date of Thursday, Oct. 26.
The move was prompted after Tennessee Tech’s home game with Eastern Kentucky was moved to Thursday, Sept. 21, to accommodate television. The rescheduling takes away one of the two Thursday night games the Gamecocks had on their original schedule. They host Murray State on Oct. 5 at 5 p.m. CT.
“We try to make every effort to enhance our athletics and, at the same time, allow them to be as competitive as possible,” JSU Athletic Director Jim Fuller said. “After our game with Tennessee Tech was not picked up by television, all parties involved felt that it was best for our programs and our fans that it be moved to a traditional Saturday game.”
The JSU football team will report to campus on Sun., Aug. 6, before beginning preseason practice later that week.
The Gamecocks open the 2006 football season on Sept. 2 at nationally ranked Furman in Greenville, S.C. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. CT at Paladin Stadium and the game will be televised nationally on College Sports Television.
