O'Neal's Walk-Off Homer Caps JSU Comeback in 5-3 Win

DADE CITY, Fla. – Jacksonville State shot a final round of 289 to post a 54-hole total score of 881 to finish second at the Ron Smith/USF Invitational, hosted at the par-72, 7,014-yard Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club South Course.

Middle Tennessee won the 17-team event with a total of 869, while Columbus State finished third behind JSU with a total of 883, Florida Southern (884) was fourth and Nebraska finished fifth with a score of 886.

Sophomore Daniel Willett shot a 69 during the final round to finish with an even-par 216 to tie for fifth place. Julian Colmenares and Marcus Harrell each finished with a 223 to tie for 24th place, while senior Bryan Rozier carded a 227 to tie for 42nd place. Mark Whisenant finished with a total of 231.

The Gamecocks return to the course next week at the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate before returning home on March 19-20 for the Grub Mart Intercollegiate, hosted at Silver Lakes on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
