Toby Norwood begins his first season on the Gamecock staff and will coach cornerbacks for Jack Crowe.

Norwood spent the last two years at Auburn, where he was responsible for opponent scouting, organizing scout teams, video breakdown and computer data entry. He also prepared the defensive scouting report and assisted with on-campus recruiting.

Prior to working at Auburn, he served as a business technology analyst at Crowley Maritime in Jacksonville, Fl., from 2003-2005. From 1996-2002, he served as a business manager, industrial engineer and senior business analyst for Intel Corporation in Chandler, Arizona.

Norwood lettered four years in football and track and field at Stanford University and was selected as defensive captain of the 1993 Cardinal football team. He played in the 1991 Aloha Bowl and the 1993 Blockbuster Bowl. As a track and field athlete, earned All-American honors in the hammer throw in 1995.

The Columbus, Ga., native earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in industrial engineering from Stanford. He is married to the former Amy Swain and the couple has one child, Peter (2).
