JACKSONVILLE – After pulling away from Austin Peay on Saturday, the Jacksonville State football team remained eighth in the polls on Monday.
Fresh off a 48-32 win over the Governors at Burgess-Snow Field, the voters kept the Gamecocks (3-1, 2-0 OVC) in the same spot in both the AFCA Coaches Poll and in the STATS FCS Top 25.
It's the third-straight week that JSU has been in the Top 10 and the 63rd time in the past 65 weeks the Gamecocks have been there. They've been in the polls for 65 weeks in a row, the third-longest active streak in the nation right now behind North Dakota State (111) and South Dakota State (83).
JSU's win over the Govs extends the longest active conference win streak in all of Division I football to 34 games. The longest streak in JSU and OVC history is just six away from the FCS record of 39-straight conference wins by Duquesne of the Metro Atlantic Conference from 1996-2006.
The Gamecocks are the lone Ohio Valley Conference team in both polls, while Tennessee State is receiving votes in each.
Defending champion North Dakota State sits atop both polls, while James Madison, South Dakota State, Kennesaw State and Eastern Washington round out the Top Five in the STATS Poll. NDSU and JMU hold the top two spots in the Coaches Poll, where Kennesaw State is third and EWU and SDSU are tied for fourth.
The Gamecocks will play their first true road game of the season on Saturday, when they take on Eastern Kentucky at 3 p.m. CT in Richmond. The game will be carried live on the JSU Radio Network and will also be broadcast on ESPN+.
