MUSCLE SHOALS – Valentina Giraldo won her school-record sixth tournament of the season at the 2018 Ohio Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship on Wednesday, leading Jacksonville State to a second-place finish.
The junior from Ibague, Colombia, won the 54-hole event by three strokes over the Murray State duo of Lucila Puente Rodriguez and Moa Folke. Giraldo then was voted the OVC's Female Golfer of the Year by the league's head coaches after the conclusion of the tournament.
She carded a final-round 74 on the par-72, 6,043-yard Schoolmaster Course at The Shoals on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, capping a 54-hole score of 218. It gave Giraldo the sixth individual win of her junior season, tripling the previous school record of two set by Angie Green in 2001-02.

She was one of four Gamecocks that finished in the top 10 in the nine-team tournament, with fellow Colombian junior Paula Vega finishing sixth. She led the field with 39 pars and shot a final-round 75 to close a three-day 226.
