NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Jacksonville State women's tennis team dropped a close 4-3 decision to UT Martin in the semifinals of the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference on Saturday at Hadley Park.
 
The one-point loss came in the Gamecocks' (14-4) first appearance in the tournament's semifinal round since the 2013 season.
 
After falling in two sets in doubles play, Jacksonville State salvaged three points in singles competition.
 
Malin Buechner claimed a two-set win over Jemima Potter at No. 2 (6-0, 6-3) en route to her 12th singles win of the year, and Alba Conejero picked up her team-leading 13th win in two sets over Daphne Pratt at No. 3.
 
Alessia Locati claimed the final JSU point in two sets over Mizuki Sakurai at No. 6 (6-1, 6-4).
 
Jacksonville State's 14 wins in 2019 were the most in a single season since winning 15 during the 2013 campaign.
