
Gamecock Rifle Tops The Citadel to Open the Weekend in South Carolina

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Jacksonville State rifle team was 64 points better than The Citadel on Friday in the first of two matches over the weekend between the two programs in Charleston, South Carolina.
The Gamecocks posted an aggregate of 4621 on Friday, while the Bulldogs tallied a 4557. JSU opened the day with a 2302 in smallbore and wrapped up the match with a 2319 in air rifle.
Junior Mackenzie Van Patten collected the top aggregate mark with a combined score of 1165. The Nampa, Idaho native fired the top scores in each portion of Friday's duel with a 585 in air rifle and a 580 in smallbore. Junior Michael Dietz claimed second with a final tally of 1152 after scoring a 577 in air rifle and a 575 in smallbore. Junior Owen Goad and newcomer Lars Lilleng shared third place with a score of 1150. Freshman Kim Jettenberg rounded out the team score with an 1143. Jettenberg matched Van Patten's mark in smallbore with a 580.
JSU and The Citadel will face off again on Sunday.
