
Gamecocks Down Morehead State

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Jacksonville State rifle team continued its strong start to the season with 27-point edge over Ohio Valley Conference foe Morehead State after posting a 4633 final mark on Saturday at the Button Range.
JSU posted a 2331 in air rifle and added a 2302 mark in smallbore. The Gamecocks' smallbore score was the separation in the match as they were 27 marks better than the Eagles. MSU finished with a 4606 and was aided by a 2339 in air rifle.
A trio of Jax State shooters finished in the top-three in the individual standings, led by junior Mackenzie Van Patten. Van Patten tallied a 585 in air rifle and a 579 in smallbore to record an aggregate mark of 1164. Freshman Kim Jettenberg finished five marks back with an 1159 after registering the top smallbore mark of the match with a 585. Jettenberg tallied a 574 in air rifle. Junior Michael Dietz claimed third with an 1155. Dietz' total was bolstered by a team-best 586 in air rifle and finished the day with a 569 in smallbore.
Senior Sam Payne and freshman Lars Lilleng rounded out the team score for JSU. Payne posted an 1147, followed by Lilleng's 1143.
Jax State will make its second trip to the state of Kentucky next weekend, traveling to Murray, Kentucky to face the Racers of Murray State.
