
Rifle Falls to OVC Rival Murray State

MURRAY, Ky. – The Jacksonville State rifle team dropped its first match of the season, falling to Ohio Valley Conference foe Murray State on the MSU campus.
The Racers combined for an aggregate score of 4690, while the Gamecocks finished with a 4630. JSU posted a 2341 in air rifle and a 2289 in smallbore. MSU pulled away in the match with a 2334 in smallbore after a 2356 in air rifle.
Leading the Gamecock shooters was junior Michael Dietz. The Peralta, New Mexico native claimed third place in the overall standings after carding a final mark of 1169. Dietz placed second in air rifle after finishing one mark off the top score of 595 by MSU's Matias Kiuru. Dietz added a 575 in smallbore. Junior Mackenzie Van Patten finished fourth in air rifle after a 587.
Freshman Kim Jettenberg rounded out the top-five on individual leaderboard with an 1165. Jettenberg had a 586 in air rifle and a 579 in smallbore. Senior Sam Payne and junior Owen Goad finished the scoring for the Gameccoks. Payne carded an 1151 aggregate score, while Goad registered an 1149.
Jax State returns to action next weekend hosting another OVC rival with UT Martin visiting the Gamecock Rifle Range inside Rowe Hall on Saturday, Nov. 14.
