
JSU Fires Season-Best Mark in Rout of UT Martin

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State rifle team turned in its best performance of the season on Saturday against Ohio Valley Conference rival UT Martin at the Gamecock Rifle Range inside Rowe Hall on the JSU campus.
The Gamecocks posted a season-best aggregate of 4659 against the Skyhawks, who finished with a team score of 4566. JSU tallied a 2313 in smallbore and a 2346 in air rifle – both high marks so far on the season.
Jax State's team total was led by juniors Owen Goad and Mackenzie Van Patten. Goad was the top finisher in the dual match with a combined mark of 1168. Goad fired a team-best 580 in smallbore and followed that mark with a 588. Van Patten placed first in the air rifle individual standings with a 590. She added a 576 in smallbore to conclude the day with an 1166.
Freshman Kim Jettenberg continues to be impressive in her first season on the collegiate level, placing third in the overall standings. Jettenberg registered a 582 in both smallbore and air rifle for a final tally of 1164. Senior Sam Payne collected an 1152 after shooting a 577 in air rifle and a 575 in smallbore. Junior Michael Dietz rounded out JSU's counting sores with an 1149. He carded a 584 in air rifle and a 565 in smallbore.
JSU and UTM will face off against each other again on Sunday at the JSU Rifle Range inside Rowe Hall. Live results will be available on JSUGamecockSports.com.
