
Rifle Turns in Another Dominating Performance

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State rifle team turned in another dominating performance on Sunday against Ohio Valley Conference foe UT Martin at the Gamecock Rifle Range inside Rowe Hall on the JSU campus.
JSU, who shot a season-best 4659 on Saturday, nearly matched that output with an aggregate score of 4654. JSU's total score was bolstered by a season-high score of 2349 in air rifle and followed by a 2305 in smallbore. UTM finished the day with a 4578.
For the second straight day, juniors Mackenzie Van Patten and Michael Dietz paced the Jax State lineup. Patten was the top finisher with a combined mark of 1167 after firing a 590 in air rifle and a 577 in smallbore. Dietz, who was the medalist on Saturday, finished four shots back with an 1163. He recorded the best air rifle score of the match with a 594 and added a 569 in smallbore.
Freshman Kim Jettenberg led all shooters in smallbore with a 582 and finished the day with a 578 in air rifle to claim fourth place with a final score of 1160. Senior Sam Payne rounded out the top-five in the individual standings with an 1158, while junior Owen Goad wrapped up JSU's team score with an 1144. Sophomore Kaila Jones added a 582 in air rifle on Sunday.
The Gamecocks return to action next weekend against UAB and The Citadel at the Gamecock Rifle Range on Saturday, Nov. 21.
