THIBODAUX, La. – The Jacksonville State men's tennis team rolled to its fifth consecutive win of the season with a 6-1 victory at Nicholls State on Thursday.

The Gamecocks (5-0) took the doubles point in two sets and won five of the six singles matchups over the Colonels (1-2) in the first of three road matches this weekend.

Aljaz Kaplja and
Thomas Norwood won 6-1 at No. 2 doubles, while
Joaquin Vallejo and
Sergio Lizarraga claimed the doubles point with a 6-1 win at No. 3.
Guillermo Agost and
Jordi Blanchar were trailing 5-4 at No. 1 when Liarraga and Vellejo clinched the point, so the set went unfinished.

Vallejo put the second point on the board with straight-set wins of 6-2 over Pavle Drobnjakovic at No. 2 singles. Agost then made it a 3-0 match with 6-2 and 6-4 set wins at No. 1 over P. Surendra Salekar.

Thomas Norwood put the match out of reach with a two-set win at No. 3. He took the first set easily, 6-1, but Nicholls' Ricardo Machado battled back and forced extras. Norwood eventually outlasted Machado 7

Kaplja won 6-2 in both sets at No. 5 over Pravi Bagade, and Blanchar finished off the Colonels in three sets over Antoine Martin-Thiri (6-2, 2-6, 10-3). The Coloels' lone loss was a three-set victory for Omar Hussein over
Dmitrii Vasilev (2-6, 6-2, 11-9).

The Gamecocks continue their three-match road swing Friday at New Orleans. JSU meets the Privateers at 1 p.m. in The Big Easy.
