
Babcock Leads No. 9 Jax State Rifle at North Georgia

Dahlonega, Ga. – Freshman Angus Babcock led the Jacksonville State rifle team on Saturday in a dual match with the University of North Georgia.
The ninth-ranked Gamecocks fired an aggregate score of 4643, which was 55 points better than the Nighthawks. JSU turned in a 2351 in air rifle and a 2292 in smallbore.
Babcock, from Lithia Springs, Ga., tallied a total of 1163 on the day after recording the top smallbore score of 577 and added a 586 in air rifle. He shared the number one spot on the individual leaderboard with senior Mackenzie Van Patten. Van Patten collected the best air rifle score after posting a 592 in that portion of the match. She added a 571 in smallbore, which ranked third in the smallbore individual standings.
Sophomore Lars Lilleng matched Babcock's score in smallbore and he carded another 577 in air rifle for an 1154 total to finish fourth overall. Sophomore Kim Jettenberg accumulated an 1151 after a 584 in air rifle and a 567 in smallbore. JSU counted junior Kaila Jones' air rifle score of 589, which was the second-best score of the day in air rifle. Senior Michael Dietz's smallbore mark of 567 rounded out JSU's smallbore total.
