
Jettenberg Leads JSU Rifle in First Action of 2022

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State rifle team returned to action after the semester break against the Racers of Murray State at the Gamecock Rifle Range inside Rowe Hall on the JSU campus.
The Gamecocks finished with an aggregate mark of 4664 on Saturday, while the Racers posted a final score of 4707. Jax State fired a 2348 in air rifle and added a 2316 in smallbore.
Sophomore Kim Jettenberg led the Gamecocks in the first action of 2022. She counted a 585 in smallbore and turned in a 581 in air rifle. Jettenberg finished fifth overall with a final tally of 1166. Freshman Angus Babcock finished right behind Jettenberg with a total of 1164. Babcock a 589 in air rifle and carded a 575 in smallbore. Sophomore Lars Lilleng bolstered JSU's team score with an 1160, placing him seventh individually. Freshman Mark McWhorter and senior Owen Goad rounded out the top-10 with final marks of 1158 and 1157 respectively.
Other highlights from the match include a 591 from senior Mackenzie Van Patten in air rifle. Senior Michael Dietz finished with a 587 in air rifle.
JSU returns to action next weekend, traveling to Murray, Kentucky to compete in the Withrow Invitational, hosted annually by the Racers.
