
Gamecocks Wrap Up Third Place at Withrow Invitational

MURRAY, Ky. – The Jacksonville State rifle team finished third in the annual Withrow Invitational, hosted by Murray State after firing a 4646 on Sunday.
The Gamecocks posted a 2346 in air rifle and added a 2300 in smallbore.
In the air rifle portion of the match, junior Kaila Jones led JSU with a 591, while the Gamecocks were paced by sophomore Kim Jettenberg in smallbore, who tallied a 584. She finished in the top-10 on the individual smallbore leaderboard. Jettenberg equaled her smallbore mark in air rifle to finish the day with an 1168.
Senior Mackenzie Van Patten recorded a 589 in air rifle and a 569 in smallbore to compile a final score of 1158. Junior Taryn Granger bolstered Jax State's air rifle score with a 583 and contributed a 569 in smallbore. Senior Michael Dietz carded a 582 in air rifle, while freshman Clark McWhorter rounded out the JSU air rifle score with a 579.
Senior Owen Goad and freshman Angus Babcock registered scores of 571 and 569 respectively in smallbore.
JSU will make its second trip to Charleston, South Carolina this season with a match on Saturday, January 29. The Gamecocks will face The Citadel, VMI and Georgia Southern.
