JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State University women's basketball team will host the Liberty Flames on Wednesday, Mar. 9, at 6 p.m. in the ASUN Conference Tournament Semifinals.
Wednesday's semifinal marks just the seventh conference tournament semifinal appearance for the Gamecocks in Division-I program history and the first since 2018.
Liberty is the No. 2 seed from the East Division and advanced to the semifinal after beating Eastern Kentucky 77-57 in the quarterfinal. JSU is the No. 1 seed from the West Division and defeated Jacksonville 70-56.
Kiana Johnson scored a season-high 19 points while
Kyra Williams scored a career-high 13 in the win.
JSU is 14-1 at home this year, a Divison-1 program record. JSU faced Liberty on the road earlier this season as
Imari Martin led the way with 16 points. Liberty is 10-1 on the road this season.
Saturday will mark just the second all-time meeting between the Gamecocks and Flames. Liberty edged JSU 62-57 in Lynchburg, Va. In January.

Imari Martin leads JSU on the offensive end this season with 11.1 points per game as the Gamecocks are the second-ranked scoring offense in the ASUN at 67.9 points per game. JSU balanced attack on offense and defense, along with stellar rebounding, has led the squad all year long. JSU is the only team in the ASUN that ranks in the top-five in scoring offense, scoring defense, offensive rebounding and defensive rebounding.
Kennedy Gavin leads JSU with 7.1 boards on the year.
Two First Team All-Conference players in Mya Berkman and Bridgette Rettstatt lead the Flames with 12.4 and 11.3 points per game, respectively.
With a win on Wednesday JSU would advance to the ASUN Championship Tournament Final for the first time since 1999 and the fourth time in D-I program history. JSU has reached the ASUN Championship Final in 1997 and 1999 but was defeated in both games.
