CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Jacksonville State beach volleyball team finished the season with a pair of wins in the Austin Peay Tournament over EKU, Saturday.
The Gamecocks (3-19) opened the final day of the regular season with a 3-2 win over ASUN foe Eastern Kentucky.
Macie Garrison and
Emily-Kate Lonergan opened the match with a win-by-default in the fifth flight to give JSU its first point.
Paulina Lindberg and
Brooklyn Schiffli followed with a 2-0 win, 21-14, 23-21.
Erin Carmichael and
Lena Kindermann clinched the match win in the second flight, winning 2-0, 21-13, 21-9.
JSU followed up the 3-2 win with a 4-1 win over Colonels in the second match of the day. The duo of Garrison and Lonergan earned another win once again in the fifth flight, by default. Kindermann and Carmichael's second 2-0 win of the day from the third flight, 21-13, 21-11, pushed the Gamecocks to a 2-0 lead. Kyle Quigley and
Claire Ochs clinched the match win 2-0, by scores of 21-19 and 21-12 in the first flight.
The pair of wins on Saturday marks the only back-to-back wins of the season for the Gamecocks.
With the regular season complete, JSU will focus on the ASUN Conference Tournament, beginning on April 22, in Huntsville, Ala.
