RICHMOND, Ky. – The Jacksonville State beach volleyball team earned its first win of the season, 3-2, over Eastern Illinois on Sunday.
 
JSU (1-15), 0-4) closed out the final day of the EKU tournament with a 1-1 finish on the day after beating Eastern Illinois (0-9), 3-2, and falling to host Eastern Kentucky (5-12, 1-2), 3-2.
 
The Gamecocks opened the day against Eastern Illinois and defeated the panthers in three-of-five flights. Kylee Quigley and Claire Ochs earned the second win of the year with a 2-0 win in the first flight, 21-19, 21-13, to clinch the match win. Erin Carmichael and Lena Kindermann recorded a 2-0 win in the third flight, 21-9, 21-10. Freshman duo Paulina Lindberg and Brooklyn Schiffli added a 2-0 win, 21-18, 21-14, in the fourth flight.

In the second match of the day, JSU faced EKU and fell short, 3-2. Carmichael and Kindermann added another win, 2-0, in the third flight, 21-15, 21-5. Emily-Kate Lonergan and Bethany Randall added their first win of the year, 2-1, in the fifth flight, 21-13, 14-21, 15-12. The Gamecocks were unable to add another point, resulting in the 3-2 loss.
