Women's Basketball Adds Eden Sample

JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State Women's basketball Head Coach Rick Pietri has announced the signing of Eden Sample, a sophomore transfer from Old Dominion University.

Sample, a 5-11 guard from Gwinnett, Ga., joins the Gamecocks following a one-year stint at Old Dominion.

During her lone season with the Monarchs, Sample appeared in 13 games, averaging 3.2 minutes per game.

Prior to attending Old Dominion, Sample turned in a stand-out career at Collins Hill High School and was a nominee for the 2021 McDonalds's All-American game along with being named to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution All-State Second Team in 2021. Sample Led Collins Hill in scoring during her senior season with 16.5 points per game and shot nearly 40 percent from three-point range.

"Eden was an accomplished high school player at the highest level in Georgia at Collins Hill (GA) where she played for Brian Harmon," said Pietri. "She is long, athletic, and can shoot the three and has a year of D-1 college experience behind her.  She will add depth to the wing position for us."

Sample will join a group of four newcomers to JSU for the 2022-23 season. Pietri and the Gamecocks signed freshmen Brooklyn McDaniel and Evelina Davlakou and Shelton State transfer Kiana Montgomery in the early signing period.
