
No. 16 Gamecocks Fire Season-High at The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The 16th-ranked Jacksonville State rifle team fired a season-high 4683 on Friday in the first of two matches against The Citadel over the weekend.
The Gamecocks' aggregate mark was highlighted by the highest smallbore score of the season and the second-best tally in air rifle. Jax State posted a 2326 in smallbore and added a 2357 in air rifle for the season-best through the first four outings of the season. The Gamecocks were 87 points better than the Bulldogs, who recorded a 4596.
Freshman Frans Rasmusson was the top overall finisher on Friday with a combined score of 1178. The Ystad, Sweden native posted the best smallbore score with a 587 and shared the top spot in air rifle with Jax State's Sam Burrow as both registered a 591. Burrow, a junior from Willaimson, Georgia, finished five points behind Rasmusson with an 1173 after adding a 582 in smallbore.
Senior Lars Lilleng and sophomore Clark McWhorter rounded out the top-five individual scores. Lilleng and McWhorter bolstered the Gamecocks' air rifle mark with a 587 and 583 respectively. Lilleng placed fourth with an overall score of 1165, while McWhorter claimed fifth with an 1162. Senior Kim Jettenberg turned in a top-five air rifle with a 587 and finished smallbore with a 574.
Junior Jersey Wilson and freshman Debi Weiser contributed to the Jax State mark with top-10 finishes on Friday. Wilson shot a 578 in air rifle and a 560 in smallbore. Weiser turned in a 572 in air rifle and a 558 in smallbore.
The Gamecocks will take on The Citadel again on Sunday to wrap up their weekend in the Palmetto State.
