
Rifle Begins 2024 With Solid Start Over The Citadel

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State rifle team opened the 2024 portion of the schedule with solid outing against The Citadel at the Gamecock Rifle Range inside Rowe Hall on Saturday on the Jax State campus.
The Gamecocks combined a 2369 in air rifle and a 2298 in smallbore for an aggregate mark of 4667 against the Bulldogs. The Citadel finished 65 points back of the Gamecocks with a combined mark of 4602.
Jax State posted four of the top-five individual finishes, led by freshman Frans Rasmusson, who fired an 1172 in the home range. He carded a 593 in air rifle and added a 579 in smallbore. Senior Lars Lilleng finished third overall with a 591 in air rifle and finished the day with a 574 in smallbore. The Gamecocks dominated the air rifle portion of the match with the top-three placements. Junior Sam Burrow claimed the top spot in air rifle with a 595 in the first outing of the new semester.
Sophomore Annie Iannotti bolstered Jax State's air rifle score with a 590. Junior Clark McWhorter rounded out the smallbore scores with a 574.
The Gamecocks return to action next weekend in Murray, Kentucky as they will take part in the annual Withrow Invitational on the Murray State campus.
