
Jax State Rifle Downs Morehead State

MOREHEAD, Ky. – After establishing a new program record for an aggregate score last weekend, the Jacksonville State rifle team followed that with another solid outing on Saturday against Morehead State.
The Gamecocks were 20-marks better than their former Conference mates with a combined total of 4682. Jax State turned in a 2362 in smallbore and added a 2330 in smallbore. The Eagles finished the home match with a 4662.
Jax State claimed four-of-the-top-five individual marks, led by freshman Frans Rasmusson. Rasmusson fired a 593 in air rifle and a 581 in smallbore to post an 1174, which tied for the top spot on the individual leaderboard with MSU's Andrew Morris. Sophomore Annie Iannotti recorded the best air rifle score of the match with a 594. She would finish the day with a 579 in smallbore to claim third place overall with an 1173.
Junior Sam Burrow and senior Lars Lilleng rounded out the top-five individuals. Burrow registered the best smallbore mark of the match with a 583 and would bolster his overall mark with a 588 in air rifle to finish the day with an 1171. Lilleng tallied a 587 in air rifle and a 581 in smallbore to complete Jax State's scoring with an 1168.
Jax State counted sophomore Clark McWhorter's score of 575 in smallbore.
The Gamecocks will be idle until a neutral site match against the Racers of Murray State on the University of Mississippi campus on Sunday, Feb. 11. That match will be a tune up for the NCAA Rifle Sectionals, hosted by Jax State on Feb. 17 at the Gamecock Rifle Range inside Rowe Hall.
