FSU Invitational
Jax State closed out the preview course for the NCAA South Regional last week at the FSU Invitational with a pair of top-five team finishes. Bethelhem Manzano Jimeno and Dennis Kipkurui led the teams respectively, both on their way to being selected as the CUSA Athletes of the Week.
Postseason Aspirations
The Gamecocks are looking to make an appearance in the postseason following the 2024 regular season. After hosting the CUSA Championship in Oxford, Ala., Jax State is looking for a chance to participate in the NCAA South Regional in Tallahassee, Fla. on Nov. 15. If the Gamecocks were to advance past the South Regional, the NCAA Cross Country Championships are set to take place on Nov. 23 in Madison, Wis.
Awards All Around
For the second time this season, Jacksonville State swept the conference weekly awards. The team's finish at the FSU Invitational resulted in four more conference award selections, including Athlete of the Week designations for Dennis Kipkurui and Bethelhem Manzano Jimeno. Kipkurui also joined Maxima Majer in being named the CUSA Freshman of the week. Following the UNA Invitational earlier this season, Jax State also swept the weekly award slate, with the most recent selections bringing the season total to nine weekly awards.
Gamecocks on the Move
After opening up the season with three consecutive meets in the state of Alabama, Jax State is rounding out a trio of out-of-state events. The Gamecocks are coming off of appearances at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. and the FSU Invitational in Tallahassee, Fla. Jax State will return home following the Upstate Invitational and participate in the CUSA Championship in Oxford, Ala.
Up Next
Jacksonville State returns to run in the CUSA Championship hosted at Choccolocco Park on Nov. 2. Jax State opened up the season with a team win on the men's side and a second-place finish by the women at the Foothills Invitational at Choccolocco Park.
