
Gamecocks Cap Weekend On A High Mark

MURRAY, Ky. The Jacksonville State rifle team wrapped up the weekend with a impressive outing in a neutral site affair against former Ohio Valley Conference foe UT Martin on Sunday at Murray State.
The Gamecocks fired a 4682 at MSU's Pat Spurgin Rifle Range after compiling a 2369 in air rifle and a 2311 in smallbore. Jax State was 17 marks better than the Skyhawks as they finished with a 4665. The 3682 is the highest aggregate mark for Jax State since a 4695 in athr NCAA Qualifier last season.
For the second consecutive match, sophomore Frans Rasmusson led the Gamecocks with another final score of 1174. Rasmusson, who turned equaled his mark from Saturday's match against Ole Miss, recorded a 593 in air rifle and a 581 in smallbore to finish second overall. Jax State claimed the next three spots in the individual standings.
Senior Sam Burrow matches Rasmusson in air rifle with a 293 and added a 279 for a total of 1172. Freshman Jenny Ek, who paced the squad in smallbore on Saturday in Oxford, Mississippi, carded a 591 in air rifle and a 578 in smallbore for an 1169. Sophomore Annie Iannotti rounded out the top-five individuals bolstered Jax State's air rilfe score with a 592 and added a 574 in smallbore.
Senior Clark McWhorter capped off the Gamecocks' scorecard with an 1155 overall score.
Jax State returns to action next weekend in Charleston, South Carolina with a pair of matches against The Citadel on November 2-3.
