
Gamecock Rifle Takes Saturday Match At The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Jacksonville State rifle team claimed the first of two matches against The Citadel on Saturday in The Palmetto State.
The Gamecocks turned in a 4664 on the day after firing a 2358 in air rifle and a 2306 in smallbore. The Bulldogs posted a aggregate of 4568, while the women's team from The Citadel finished with a 4444.
The Jax State trio of Frans Rasmusson, Sam Burrow and Annie Iannotti were the top-three individual finishers with Rasmusson recording the top combined score of 1172. He finished second behind Burrow in air rifle with a 591 and registered the best smallbore mark with a 581. Burrow carded an 1166 in the match after his top air rifle mark and posting a 574 in smallbore. Iannotti claimed third overall with an 1163. She tallied a 586 in air rifle and a 577 in smallbore.
Jax State's Jenny Ek padded the air rifle mark with 584 and added a 574 in smallbore to finish fifth overall in the match with an 1158. Clark McWhorter and Alex Watts collected top-10 finishes with an 1157 and 1150 respectively. McWhorter placed sixth after carding a 585 in air rifle and a 572 in smallbore. Watts turned in a 580 in air rifle and a 570 in smallbore.
The two programs will face off against each other on Sunday to close out the weekend action.
