CUSA Championship
Jax State returns to the site of the season opening Foothills Invitational for the Conference USA Championship in Oxford. Last season's CUSA cross country championship was held in Bowling Green, Ky. by host Western Kentucky and saw Middle Tennessee sweep the team titles.
Upstate Invitational
The Gamecock men picked up their third team win of the season in the Upstate Invitational while the women earned their third top-two team finish in 2024. Dennis Kipkurui led the men with a second place finish while three others placed in the top ten. On the women's side of things, Beti Jimeno set a new school record for the 5K on her way to a runner-up individual finish.
Awards All Around
Following the FSU Invitational, Jacksonville State swept the conference weekly awards. The team's finish in Tallahassee resulted in four more conference award selections, including Athlete of the Week designations for Dennis Kipkurui and Bethelhem Manzano Jimeno. Kipkurui also joined Maxima Majer in being named the CUSA Freshman of the week. Following the UNA Invitational earlier this season, Jax State also swept the weekly award slate, with the most recent selections bringing the season total to nine weekly awards.
Sweet Home
The CUSA Championships is the fourth meet for Jax State this season to take place in the state of Alabama. The Gamecock men's and women's team have combined for three team titles across the three previous in-state meets with two coming in the UNA Invitational and one in the Foothills Invitational.
Last Time at Choccolocco
Jacksonville State is set to return to Choccolocco Park on Saturday, the site of the season opening Foothills Invitational. The Gamecocks opened up the year at their home course with promising team finishes, including a team title by the men and a runner-up placement by the women.
What's Next?
Jax State is looking for a chance to participate in the NCAA South Regional in Tallahassee, Fla. on Nov. 15. If the Gamecocks were to advance past the South Regional, the NCAA Cross Country Championships are set to take place on Nov. 23 in Madison, Wis.
