
Rifle Sweeps Weekend Matches At The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Jacksonville State rifle team swept its weekend in Charleston after taking down The Citadel on Sunday.
The Gamecocks, who fired a 4664 on Saturday, posted a 4653 on in the second match of the weekend against the Bulldogs. The Citadel tallied a 4684 on Sunday. Jax State combined a 2355 in air rifle and a 2298 in smallbore.
Sophomore Frans Rasmusson claimed medalist honors for the second time over the weekend after registering an 1169. Rasmusson turned in the best air rifle score of 592 and added a 577 in air rifle. Freshman Jenny Ek finished third overall with an aggregate score of 1166. Ek carded the second-highest smallbore mark with a 578 and finished the day with a 588 in air rifle.
Senior Sam Burrow and junior Annie Iannotti were the other two Gamecocks to claim a top-10 overall spot. Burrow manufactured an 1162 to finish fourth after a 589 mark in air rifle and a 573 in smallbore. Iannotti placed sixth overall with a combined tally of 1150 following scores of 584 in air rifle and 566 in smallbore.
Sophomore Debi Weiser bolstered Jax State's air rifle total with a 586, while senior Clark McWhorter added a 570 to the squad's smallbore score. Freshman Emmajames Stanton counted a 579 in air rifle.
The Gamecocks return to action on November 16 when they head to El Paso, Texas to face the Miners of UTEP in a pair of matches.
