MURFREESBORO, TN. – The Jacksonville State men's tennis squad was defeated by Liberty in the semifinals of the CUSA tournament on Saturday.

The Gamecocks (15-10) were downed 4-2 by the Flames (17-7) in a scrappy match. Jax State took the doubles point but were defeated in singles 4-1 to end their season.

Xavier Sarda Marti and
Ivan Marrero Curbelo made quick work in their doubles match with a 6-2 win.
Vanja Dobrnjac and
Lucius Soller were then defeated 2-6 in doubles action.
Zach Murphy and
Marko Milosavljevic clinched the doubles point thanks to a 6-4 triumph.

Liberty got on the board after Sarda Marti was defeated in his singles match 2-6, 1-6. Fatu then lost 2-6, 3-6 to give Liberty a 2-1 advantage. Milosavljevic got the Gamecocks back to a tie at 2-2 with the Flames thanks to a 6-4, 6-4 victory. Dobrnjac lost his singles match to Luis Felipe Miguel 4-6, 3-6, putting the Gamecocks behind 3-2.

Liam Day then fell on court No. 6 in a tough match with Liberty's Chase Robinson. Day took the loss in a 4-6, 5-7 straight-set.

"We've got a young team," Jax State coach
Trey Morris said. "We've got a lot of pieces and a lot of guys who are going to keep building, who are hungry for much more than this. We're going to be back, we're going to keep going, this is only the start for Jacksonville State men's tennis. We're excited to go into the offseason and keep building and keep chasing this thing we call a championship."
