CLARKSVILLE, TN. – Jacksonville State's beach volleyball squad fell in a doubleheader against two familiar foes Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Gamecocks (0-9) lost 4-1 against former ASUN and OVC rival Austin Peay (10-12) in a 10 A.M. match. Although Jax State took the loss against the Governors, Stavroula Papazoglou and Brooklyn Schiffli starred in the sand for the Gamecocks.
 
The duo of Schiffli and Papazoglou came out victorious with wins of 21-17 in the first set and 21-19 in the second set over Austin Peay's Anna Rita and Aurora Bibolotti. Jax State's pairing of Luci Wilkinson and Kathryn Smith had the next match in the sand.
 
Wilkinson and Smith combined for 29 points in their sets against Payton Deidesheimer and Maggie Duyos. Jax State's Madison Konopka and Caty Havekost tallied 23 total points in their match against the Governors.
 
The Gamecocks went on to face former OVC adversary Tennessee Tech (6-9) in a 12 P.M. match that saw the Golden Eagles defeat Jax State 5-0. Schiffli and Papazoglou continued there good day in the sand by winning the first set 21-18 over Tennessee Tech's Madolyn Isringhausen and Bella Powell.
 
Papazoglou and Schiffli lost set two 21-17 before losing a tight third set by a score of 15-12. Kaylee Moseley and Smith paired up against Tennessee Tech and nearly got a second set victory. The duo lost 21-11 in set one but battled in the second set with a 22-20 loss.
 
Wilkinson and Havekost continued to score points as they added 30 total in their match against Tennessee Tech's Aleeya Jones and Brooke Amann.
 
The Gamecocks will stay one more day in Clarksville, TN, as they will face UT Martin Wednesday at 1 P.M.
