Clay Webb was selected Second-Team Preseason All-America by both USA Today and The Sporting News.
Webb enters his third year at Jax State after earning First-Team All-American and Guard of the Year honors by College Football Network last season helping pave the way for one of the top rushing attacks in the nation last year. The Gamecocks had eight games with 200 or more rushing yards this season and 35 rushing touchdowns in 13 games.
Jax State set a Conference USA record last season with 522 rushing yards in the contest against LA Tech and helped the Gamecocks finish third nationally in rushing yards per game at 236.7. Additionally, Jax State allowed just 1.23 sacks per game last year which was 19
th-best nationally.
The Oxford native is the only Conference USA player on the preseason All-America teams.
Jax State will open its 2024 season on August 29
