DALLAS, Tx. – Senior forward
Mya Barnes was named to the 2025-26 Preseason All-Conference USA Team Thursday.
Barnes, a third-year player at Jax State, is coming off a 2024-25 season that saw her start in all 30 games for the Gamecocks. In those 30 games, she averaged 7.3 points per game, grabbed 4.7 rebounds per game, and 1.2 blocks per game on 27.8 minutes per game. Barnes' 1.2 blocks per game and 35 total blocks ranked her fifth in the league in both categories last season.
Barnes scored a season-high 17 points and five made threes against Sewanee on Nov. 25, 2024. She played a season-high 39 minutes at Western Kentucky on Feb. 8, 2025. Barnes set a new career-best with 10 rebounds against Utah Valley on Dec. 15, 2024, and later tied that mark with 10 boards against Sam Houston in the opening round of the CUSA Tournament on March 11, 2025. Barnes' best game defensively came at Arizona State on Nov. 4, 2024, where she blocked a season-high four shots.
